Under-9s Structure in 2014

Dear all Under 9s.

Well, the summer season is (almost) underway, but for the weather!! So that you are all aware as to the general structure of the Under 9s this year I thought it best to explain via our new blogging system set up by the venerable Mr Kevin Thompson.

After last summer's festivals, I found that most of those who took part weren't getting much out of them as I had envisaged. So, in this regard I have decided to have two Under 9 groups training on the same night.

Group 1 is the Development Squad. This squad have demonstrated the requisite abilities to start playing confidently with full kit and harder ball. So to help them in their continued development, their training sessions will be much akin to that of the Under 11s.

Also, in conjunction with Kevin Thompson (U11s Coach) we will be holding a number of internal cricket matches on selected Sundays (to be announced) so that the squad can get match experience with a select group from the Under 11s squad.

Group 2 is the Developing Squad. Over the coming months I am expecting individuals from this group to start migrating to the Development Squad (depending on their improvement). Once the U9 coaches are content with an individual's development we will contact their parents to make sure they are happy with their 'promotion' to playing with the harder ball and full kit.

It is the intention to enter this particular group into a number of Kwik Cricket Festivals around the county (dates to be announced when known).

It is also the intention to continue to run the Kwik Cricket Award Scheme run by the ECB and Gray Nicholls.

Well that's probably all for now. Here's to a glorious summer!
